Q: First tell us something about yourself ?
I am a mother to three little turkeys ages 5yrs, 3yrs and 1.5yrs. We have lots of fun reading books and doing art projects and generally playing outside. We live in the Cayman Islands with our dog Breezy.
Q: How and when your journey started as a writer?
My daughter was 2yrs old and we couldn’t make it home to FL for thanksgiving that year. So I decided I wanted to make it special for her. I had an idea for a turkey feather hunt. I kept it very simple and his feathers all around the house for her and her friends to find them. It was so much fun we did it again and again. My friend Dianne said I should turn it into a book and so I did.
Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?
Thomas the turkey is my first book. I have written many others but this is the first one I wrote 3yrs ago and now just recently published.
Q: Tell us something more about your books?
They are a cast of characters that are friends. In the Thomas the Turkey series the friends help Thomas find his lost things. In the Ronnie the rabbit series they all help Ronnie with his big dreams.
Q: Why do you choose kids as your reader ?
is there any specific reason? I use to be a Montessori school teacher and I absolutely loved it. I love to see how children engage with a story and it ignites their imagination.
Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?
Well the Thomas the turkey came to mind because it’s a thanksgiving book and turkeys are all about thanksgiving. The Ronnie the rabbit series is a collection of stories my dad use to tell us about himself from when he was growing up. And his name is Ron and his parents use to call him Ronnie the Rabbit because he was a fast runner. So that is how these two characters came into my mind.
Q: Do you want to give any message for your readers?
Yes enjoy the moments you get to snuggle up and read with your children, you are creating beautiful memories.
