Q: First tell us something about yourself.
My name is Kylie Kincaid. I am a primary school teacher, mum of two boys, and the author behind Kincaid Books. My stories are inspired by real life experiences in my classroom, with my boys, and the everyday moments kids experience. I love creating books that help children grow into kind and confident little people. Some books have a little humour woven in, seen through a child’s eyes, but something adults can smile at too.
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
My journey started during maternity leave, when I finally had time to slow down and notice all the little moments in life. I began turning those moments into stories. Being a teacher, I’ve always loved literacy, so writing felt like a natural next step and over time, those ideas became real books. Since then, I’ve written over 30 books and self-published them on Amazon, bringing those everyday moments to life for families and classrooms.
Q: Tell us something more about your book series.
My books are all based on real-life experiences. Some are fun and playful, like my Silly Things series, while others focus on big feelings and wellbeing. I also create learning-based stories that support literacy in a natural, engaging way. They’re designed for both home and the classroom.
Q: How did you create the magical system in your books and characters?
For me, the magic comes from real life. I start with everyday experiences and add a touch of imagination to make them feel special. My characters are often inspired by real children, which helps them feel relatable and genuine.
Q: Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
Your ideas matter. Your imagination is powerful. The stories you create, no matter how small, are worth sharing.
