Q First tell us something about yourself.
My name is Jerry McGehee. I was born and raised on my Grandfather’s farm in Kentucky. I have 3 brothers and one sister. I’m an Christian, Air Force Veteran, cancer survivor, and have worked in the Computer/telecom industry most of my life.
Q How and when did your journey start as a writer?
I have always loved Christmas and one night when I was putting my Christmas decorations away, this entire book flashed through my mind like the trailer of a movie. Beginning, middle and end.
Q When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?
I had never thought about writing a book before, but I couldn’t think of anything else. The next morning I poured a cup of coffee and my brain was so filled with this story, I just had to start writing it down. Once it was finished, I let a couple of my family members and coworkers read it and insisted I try and get it published. I knew nothing about publishing, and that night while watching TBN I saw a commercial asking me if I had ever written a book and would like to get it published. Not just once but 3 times, so I reached out to Christian Faith Publishing and they told me to submit it and got back to me within a week and said it was one of the most unique stories they’ve read in a long time. They loved the part where (the main character is turned into a doll) and would like to publish it. So it was finally done and released in January of 2022. We did get it published in book form by December of 2021, but just a little late for Christmas.
Q Why do you choose kids as your reader? Is there any specific reason?
I’ve always loved kids, but never was blessed to have any. One of the cutest things in the world is to see the wide eyed expressions on a child’s face when they see something for the first time, like all the wonders at Christmas time. That is priceless.
Q Tell us something more about your books.
This book is a fun adventure for young and old alike. The older reader will enjoy some reference to past stories and it has aspects of a true story with a little make believe.
Q Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
It shows what can happen if you’re willing to risk everything. You just have to believe!
