Q: First tell us something about yourself?
I am a first-generation college graduate born and raised in the inner-city Bay Area, CA. In addition to Authoring children’s books, I am an aspiring Legislator. Understandably, I have unwavering passions to create a meaningful change in the world which will outlive me. It is my hope that my gift of writing and public speaking will truly uplift the youth and our society as a whole.
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
My journey as a writer began in grade school, I developed a love for reading books and creative writing through book report assignments I was given as a young student. Consequently, this fascination with writing led me to being a young Poet and now Published Author.
Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?
Accordingly, I wrote my first story as a youth in elementary school, but unfortunately it was not published. But I’m thankful for the opportunities I had to learn and develop useful writing skills early in my literacy journey.
Q: Tell us something more about your books?
Both of my books are self-published and predicated on educating and empowering boys born into the African diaspora. Suitably, I aim to do this by utilizing complex literacy to effectively enhance their cognitive development and academic capabilities. Excitingly, my goal is to partner with educational organizations, youth groups and libraries to have my books incorporated into their systems to assist with increasing educational equity.
Q: Why do you choose kids as your reader? is there any specific reason?
Undoubtedly, with me being a distinguished Black Scholar, I genuinely feel it’s my purpose to give back, and educate young children born into the African diaspora. For this reason, I eagerly chose to Author books to genuinely inspire young black boys to defy the odds and break all limiting beliefs that may hinder their academic or professional success.
Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?
The stories and characters for both of my books are wholeheartedly inspired by my challenging upbringing and coming from a disadvantaged background which severely lacked adequate educational resources. So, I pray that my books will have an everlasting impact, and positively influence the lives of millions of black boys worldwide.
