Q: First tell us something about yourself?
Sure! My name is Erica Asare, I live in London, and I am passionate and dedicated to make the world a better place through writing educational, practical and didactic books for children. I developed an interest in writing at a very young age and have honed my skill over time. “One evening when I was reading and listening to my children read, it dawned on me that there was a niche in the market to create more interesting and purposeful children’s books. I gathered my tools and went to work and that is how I began writing these high-quality books.
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
Since I was a small girl, you would mostly find me giggling as I perused away the latest children’s book. I had a collection of books in many areas and this helped me in understanding my environment better. I took my hobby a step further as I would create my own short stories from my imagination and then share them with the people close to me. “I remember how my neighbour, a literature teacher, eyes lit with awe and amazement every time I took a story for her to read. She would always tell me “You have the mark of a bestseller author!!
Later on, when working with children, I decided to make my writing public and accessible to children around the globe and that’s when my professional journey as a writer commenced.
Q. When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?
I wrote my first book around February 2021 and published it in March 2021, I have written other books soon to be published called Amira’s Princess Dress, The Secret Treehouse and many more to come.
Q. Tell us something more about your books?
I write in an interesting and fun way to entice children and this makes my books their favourite page-turner!! Book reviewers and critics have agreed that I possess a natural talent in storytelling, original idea generation and a way with words.
Another important aspect of my writing style is the guidance I derive from my education in children’s care, learning and development, early childhood, and special educational needs. I will time to time refer to these facts and theories that have been tested and applied in the past, then apply these themes in my books. My books educate and encourage creativity, teamwork, kindness, independence, and emotional intelligence.
Q. Why do you choose kids as your reader? Is there any specific reason?
Well, I believe children are gems and the best way to make an impact in future is by moulding their brains in a way that brings about positive development. I am also a mother and works with kids as an educator/playleader. This form the basis of my inclination to working with children. Every morning when I wake up, I will immerse myself into the children’s world and make an effort to make them appreciate and understand their environment better.Positive growth in children means a better and promising future for the world.
Q. How did these stories and characters come to your mind?
As I had mentioned earlier, my readers have described me as a naturally talented writer who has a way with words. I have an inherent skill in the creation of characters, plot and the flow of a story. And since I am writing for children, to help them relate, I will look for influences from my immediate environment, then brainstorm how all these objects interact with each other.
Q: Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
First, let me thank my readers for having faith in me, “You are the fuel to my writing”. Every time I receive positive feedback leads me to create better and engaging books. Every word, sentence and paragraph you read in any of my books has been well thought and standardized to make it not only interesting but educational.
For those that are yet to get your hands on my books, I strongly suggest that you get your child a book from my series of books and you will be glad you did it! For more books and information about me, visit my website on www.childrenlovebooks.co.uk
