Q: First tell us something about yourself?
I work as a Registered Nurse at New York University Health Care (NYUHC) and I created Celebrating Women LLC, a global platform amplifying women’s voices and visibility; hosting events, speaking internationally, writing, editing, and publishing a unifying collection of interviews about women. I also volunteer on an international disaster assistance response team, meeting critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease and natural disaster. I live on Long Island in New York with my husband, Greg. I’m a mom and a nana!
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
In 2018, inspired by another writer, I began writing blogs and sharing them on social media.
Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?
I created a planner/journal in 2021 (Celebrating Women Planner & Journal) and my first children’s story was just published in 2022!
Q: Tell us something more about your books?
When my children were growing up in addition to reading books to them I created a story about how others play and sleep. Working my way through the alphabet I described different playtime activities of others and then also a time for rest. It helped transition from play time to bedtime and alleviated “bedtime battles!”
Q: Why do you choose kids as your reader ? is there any specific reason?
I thought that my children enjoyed the story so much, maybe other children would too. And I’d like to encourage family reading.
Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?
I was thinking of how difficult it was for my children to fall asleep, despite a bedtime routine (including reading together) and the story helped. The characters changed some nights, but the story itself essentially stayed the same. Sharing how others play and take time to rest was a fun way to explain to my children that there’s a time for rest for the whole world and now it’s their turn to rest!
Q: Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
Keep reading everyday! And….go to bed!
