Q: First, tell us something about yourself.
I’m Chandele Morris — author, instructional coach, and founder of Morrishouse Publishers and Diversity of Minds. I’m also neurodivergent and a mom of neurodivergent children, so big feelings, creativity, and different ways of thinking are a regular part of life in my home. I love helping kids feel seen, helping families feel supported, and helping educators create spaces where every learner shines.
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
I began writing in 2021, during a season when my family was navigating evaluations, emotions, and a lot of learning about different minds. I wanted stories that helped children feel understood — not “fixed” — and realized I could write them myself. What started as one book grew into a mission: creating books and trainings that spark empathy, confidence, and joyful understanding.
Q: Tell us something more about your book series.
My books center on emotions, belonging, and celebrating individuality. Some have rhythm, all have bright visuals and reader-friendly font to support all readers. They open doors for meaningful conversations — about feelings, friendship, and appreciating differences in ourselves and others.
Q: How did you create the magical system in your books and characters?
The magic is real-world magic — the kind kids already have.
A deep breath becomes power.
Kindness becomes courage.
Understanding becomes connection.
Embracing your design is the magic you already carry inside.
Q: Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
Always.
You are wonderfully made. Your mind is brilliant. You belong exactly as you are.
Keep shining, keep growing, and celebrating what makes you you.
