Q: First tell us something about yourself.
My name is Audrey Moore. I live in Kildare, Ireland with my three children, Jessie, Elinor and Jamie, husband Ray and my dog Sam. I work as a Chartered Legal Executive in the areas of criminal and litigation. I love to oil paint, sketch and play badminton competitively in my spare time and of course, to creatively write too.
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
I am a qualified journalist so writing is always something that I have done, whether it was articles or news stories. My journey as a childrens writer though only really started in 2013 when I was on maternity leave from my ‘normal’ 9-5 job.
Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?
I self published my first book in 2015 and my second in 2019.
Q: Tell us something more about your books?
My books are set in the Borneo Rainforest and star a little girl named Po-Li and a cute panda named Ping. The books are adventure stories and all the animals that feature are endangered. They are full of fun and educational facts, maps to follow the trail of Ping and Po-Li and lots more.
Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?
One night, it took hours to get my baby to sleep. I had to sit with her for a long time. I am a very random/creative person and when I get bored, the strangest things pop into my head. That night I started thinking about why pandas only eat bamboo. The characters and the story developed from there really. When my daughter finally went to sleep. I started typing out the story on my laptop.
Q: Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
I hope you enjoy the fun and adventures Ping and Po-Li embark on and I would love to hear from you on any of my social media platforms.
