Q: First tell us something about yourself.
Hi, my name is Jo Galloway, and I live on the beautiful Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. I’ve spent over 30 years working with horses and have a deep love for nature and the outdoors. I share my life with my wonderful husband and a variety of farm animals. In 2018, I trained as a hypnotherapist, driven by my passion for understanding the mind’s potential and my desire to help others. This journey led me to realise that our future happiness often begins in childhood. Inspired to make a positive impact, I began writing to help inspire and guide children towards brighter, more fulfilling futures.
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
I wrote my first book, a memoir, in 2019 after a transformative experience through hypnosis, where I uncovered the origins of the limiting beliefs that had shaped my life. This memoir is still in the files on my computer, and I’m excited to launch it next year. Since then, I’ve authored 21 Doors: A Tarot Story, which helps Tarot enthusiasts understand the meaning of each card in a clear and accessible way. My Little Blue Zen Meditation for children’s books started as hypnotherapy scripts that I originally recorded on YouTube in 2020. Last year, I decided expand them into a written form so that parents could read them to their children. I now have nine Bedtime Healing Meditation books in print, with more on the way.
Q: Tell us something more about your books.
As a Hypnotherapist, I discovered the first seven years of a child’s life are a powerful time for shaping their beliefs about themselves and the world. During this time, their minds are especially open, absorbing everything around them. It’s why they often pick up both positive and limiting beliefs without even realizing it. That’s where my Bedtime Healing Meditations Books come in. These meditations are crafted to plant seeds of positivity, confidence, and self-worth at a time when children are most open to new ideas.
Each story gently encourages children to embrace who they are, to trust in their abilities, and to let go of worries they may be carrying. The meditations help them relax, drift off to sleep, and wake up feeling more resilient and capable. It’s like giving them a foundation to build a life full of belief in themselves, so they grow up without needing to undo limiting beliefs later in life. They are best read to your child slowly in a calm, steady voice and the more often your child listens, the more magical the results will be
Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?
My books are designed as meditations for children, and each one starts with a specific outcome in mind, whether it’s building confidence, fostering self-love, or nurturing resilience. I begin by guiding the child into a calm, relaxed state with a gentle meditation, helping them ease into a place where they can absorb positive messages without distraction. Once they’re relaxed, the story begins by acknowledging the issue or challenge they may be facing, whether it’s fear, doubt, or uncertainty. From there, I weave in an uplifting and empowering solution, always ending with a sense of hope and a picture of how they would like to feel or be—told in a creative, engaging way that sparks their imagination and encourages growth.
Q: Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
Absolutely. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be the importance of teaching our children self-love. I believe that many of our struggles, fears, and limiting beliefs can be overcome when we cultivate a deep sense of belief in ourselves. If children are taught to embrace who they are, right from the start, they can grow up feeling confident in their uniqueness, their gifts, and their potential. It’s crucial that we encourage them to love themselves unconditionally, without comparing themselves to others. Each child is a masterpiece in their own right, and when they understand that who they are is exactly who they were meant to be, they can approach life with a sense of peace, purpose, and resilience. Self-love is the foundation upon which everything else can grow, confidence, joy, and the ability to face life’s challenges with courage.
