Q: First tell us something about yourself.
Hi! My name is Tiara Deahn Thornton. I was born and raised in Alamogordo, New Mexico. I love animals. I have two cats named Ash and Ace.
Some of my hobbies include journaling, calligraphy, volunteering, and playing sand volleyball.
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
My passion for writing started at an early age. I remember always writing and reading poems. Our parents had a bookcase full of encyclopedias and classic literature. In school, English and writing were some of my favorite classes.
Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?
I remember writing my first unpublished poetry book in high school for English class.
Q: Tell us something more about your book?
My book is based on an event I experienced while attempting to bake chocolate chip cookies for my family. Chocolate chip cookies were the first dessert I was able to make on my own. Sometimes, I would bake for a special occasion or when our Mom would buy chocolate chip morsels from the Commissary.
Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?
They story came to fruition when I was reflecting on my Dad’s life. The characters are my siblings. Our Dad passed away March of 2022. I felt this story was a way to share his legacy. The book also provides children with a different perspective when making mistakes.
Q: Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
To my readers, I hope you find the beauty in making mistakes. Give yourself and others grace when mistakes are made. It’s the only way toward growth
