Q: Tell us something about yourself.
Hi! I’m Jori Eady, and I wear many hats—I’m a special education teacher, childcare provider, and children’s book author. I run PrimeTime Babysitting Services, where I provide high quality childcare and tutoring, and I also own EmpowerEd Publishing, where I create books that inspire and educate young readers. Working with children and families has always been my passion, and I love being able to support kids in different ways—whether it’s in the classroom, through my babysitting service, or through the stories I write.
Q: How and when did your journey start as a writer?
I’ve always loved storytelling and the way books can teach important life lessons in a way that truly connects with kids. As a teacher, I see every day how stories help children navigate emotions, build resilience, and develop confidence. That’s what inspired me to write Bella’s Journey: A Test of Courage—I wanted to create a book that encourages kids to be brave, believe in themselves, and push through challenges.
Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?
I wrote Bella’s Journey: A Test of Courage last summer while I was on summer break. It’s my very first children’s book, and I wanted to create a story that empowers young readers by showing them that courage comes in all shapes and sizes. Then, during the winter, I put together Bella’s Journey: A Coloring Book for Kids, which makes the adventure even more interactive! Both books will be published in April of this year, and I can’t wait to share them with families, teachers, and little readers everywhere.
Q: Tell us something more about your books.
Bella’s Journey: A Test of Courage is a fun and inspiring story about a young girl who faces challenges that test her bravery and determination. It’s written for kids ages 5-8 and blends adventure with meaningful life lessons. I wanted the illustrations to be playful, relatable, and full of vibrant colors that spark kids’ imaginations.
Bella’s Journey: A Coloring Book for Kids takes things a step further, allowing kids to interact with the story in a hands-on way. Whether they’re coloring Bella’s adventures or thinking about what courage means to them, it’s a fun and creative way to reinforce the book’s message.
Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?
Bella was inspired by the many amazing kids I’ve worked with as a teacher and childcare provider. I see kids facing challenges every day—whether it’s trying something new, speaking up for themselves, or believing in their abilities—and I wanted to create a character who reflected those experiences. I also drew from my own childhood, thinking about the moments that shaped my confidence and resilience. Bella’s story is a reminder that bravery doesn’t always mean being fearless—it means facing your fears and pushing forward anyway.
Q: Do you want to leave any message for your readers?
To all my young readers: You are stronger and braver than you think! Every challenge you face is a chance to grow, learn, and discover just how amazing you are. Just like Bella, you have courage inside you—even when you don’t feel it yet.
And to all the parents, teachers, and caregivers—thank you for nurturing a love of reading and learning in the children around you. Stories have the power to shape young minds, and I hope Bella’s Journey brings joy, inspiration, and confidence to every child who reads it!
