Super Spots by Nakeyia Jones

Q: First tell us something about yourself ?

I was born and raised in New York City. I have a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and taught English for 15 years. I love to sing, shop, help the less fortunate, travel and spend time with my family.

Q: How and when your journey started as a writer?

I loved writing and creating my own stories since I was a child. During teaching, I would create stories with my students spelling words. The students would always love the stories I created and encouraged me to write my own book last year in 2019.

Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?

My first book called Super Spots was released in October 2019.

Q: Tell us something more about your books?

My first book is about a girl named Nia, who has a skin condition called Vitiligo. She is a positive girl that loves to create songs that rhyme and teach others about her skin condition. During the pandemic, I wrote 5 books, so I am now the author of 7 books.
Super Spots
7 Days of Prayer for Blended & Unblended Families
DING! When reality calls you answer
Counting with Korey & Kamiyah
Colors with Korey & Kamiyah
Community of Dads
Silent Call to a Bright Future

Q: Why do you choose kids as your reader ? is there any specific reason?

I love to encourage young people to read as often as possible so I chose children as my audience.

Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?

I am living with Vitiligo and it has not always been an easy journey. Some children can be cruel when they see people that are different. I desire to teach children to accept their differences and the differences of others in my writing.

Q: Do you want to give any message for your readers?

My message to readers “Be comfortable in the skin that you’re in an Be unapologetically yourself.

This book is very cute and sweet to read with a wonderful message for kids and as well as for adults.Dippy’s Great Adventure, this is the first book in the series, In this book Dippy is an over-active Pit Bull puppy, and ends up in an animal shelter because she has too much energy.Dippy uses her energy to dig a hole under the fence through which all the dogs escape and they run to an amusement park called Playland where they go on a lot of rides. Because Dippy has so much energy, she has a hard time staying seated and is a little naughty on each ride, in a cute and endearing way.

And a percentage of sales from “Dippy’s Great Adventure” will go towards the care of shelter animals so grab your copy from Amazon .

Draw Me Close To You By Kossim Osseni

Draw Me Close To You is an emotional and heartfelt story with lifelong lessons for parents and children.

This story is about a boy named Tunde who lived with his father after his mother’s demise . He loves to draw and paint but his father wanted to excel in math and science. His father wanted him to become a Doctor or engineer so one day he scolded him and threw away all his crayons and drawings and it made Tunde very upset. So what happens after that makes me very emotional. Illustrations are so amazing and wonderful which makes this book more beautiful.

We live in a world where parents are told to control and modify their children’s behavior. They are not our property. They belong to themselves, they are human beings like us and we can not control them to be someone that makes us happy and makes us feel better. We are supposed to be the one who helps our kids to be happy. We have to give freedom to our children to choose their career: If we force them to choose a career against their interest, they may never be able to excel in life .
This book is a lifelong lesson for us parents and I must recommend this book to every parent out there. You should read this book with your children and tell them that you are always there with them in any condition or they can talk to you freely because at last what’s most important : to be happy and loved.

Meet Our Fabulous Author Pablo Fernandez-Eyre

Q: First tell us something about yourself ?

My name is Pablo and I’m from Spain. I work in the film industry in LA.

Q: How and when your journey started as a writer?

I have always loved writing since I was a kid. I wrote many movie scripts but never a children’s book before.

Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?

Sushi City started as a video game but it was never finished. I had to simplify the story to turn into a children’s book. I hope to extend it one day and turn it into something bigger.

Q: Tell us something more about your books?

My book mixes fantasy with good messages of wanting to change the world into a better place.

Q: Why do you choose kids as your reader ? is there any specific reason?

Kids are the future of this planet so it’s very important that they learn from us so they don’t make the same mistakes we did.

Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?

I was inspired by Hayao Miyazaki movies. Love their animation and “save the planet” themes.

Q: Do you want to give any message for your readers?

The main message of the book is about friendship/take care of your friends. I see the book for all kind of ages. Little kids like it because of the illustrations, bigger kids like it because of the fantasy, adults like it because of the message behind about female empowerment, ending animal over exploitation, ending hunger in the world, taking care of our planet.

Meet Our Fabulous Author Michael A. Brown

Q: First tell us something about yourself?

Born in Chicago, IL, Michael A. (Mike) Brown, MA is the author of a revolutionary social emotional children’s book series, beginning with What I Tell Myself FIRST: Children’s Real-World Affirmations of Self-Esteem. Based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, this book of real-world affirmations highlights the various abilities and attributes of the reader while exposing readers to realistic possibilities of rejection of difference in various forms thereby enabling readers to form mental frameworks to surmount those forms of rejection and achieve positive self-actualization. I served in the United States Army and in various communities as a police officer. I am currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of MABMA Enterprises, LLC and the principal instructor of Security Training Concepts, a training agency specializing in collegiate / career occupational courses in multiple criminal justice and self-defense-related disciplines.
Q: How and when your journey started as a writer?
I am not an author by trade. I became one by trauma. I am the product of child abuse. The reasons? I still couldn’t tell you what I had done to earn physical chastisement.

Q: When did you write your first story? Is it published or not?

My first children’s book, based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, seeks to instill in children the answer to bullying, body-shaming, hate, and attacks on the self through daily affirmations. What I Tell Myself FIRST: Children’s Real-World Affirmations of Self Esteem is to readers what the AED is to a heart: it instills the defibrillator of self-esteem so powerful for when times are tough and your mind is under attack. This book of reality-based daily affirmations are the “I wish I had this” of books.

Q: Tell us something more about your books?

My series is based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a psychological theory of motivation created by psychologist Abraham Maslow that itemizes the needs that we, as humans, need in order to self-actualize into our best self.

Q: Why do you choose kids as your reader? is there any specific reason?

I was helping an anger management client with issues related to her anger. In doing so, I learned that a great percentage of anger happens when childhood voids, created by broken parents, are imparted in children thereby continuing to reside in now-anatomically/statutorily mature adults. I always heard of affirmations. Plenty of books have them, usually filled with “I am” this and that. But they leave out the real-world attacks that parents know are coming. They hide the truth from our children.

Q: How did these stories and characters come to your mind?

All the things I was not taught as a child become the motivation for my children’s books. What I Tell Myself is a series. FIRST is the foundation upon which the other books will be written. I will keep expounding on Maslow, for educators know all too well, “In teaching, you can’t do the Bloom (Bloom’s Taxonomy) stuff until they do the Maslow stuff.” – Alan E. Beck. I have already penned multiple books already published. The titles are What I Tell Myself: About Self-Protection, What I Tell Myself: About Talent, What I Tell Myself About NO.
Q: Do you want to give any message for your readers?
Sure. Parents, don’t lie to your child. Parents who do this are concerned with how they look in the eyes of their child. The lying parent sees the child as their friend, not their child. You can’t protect your child from a void you haven’t protected yourself from. Your experience is the master class. You are the master teacher. Expose your past to save the from a past and yourself from a future occurrence.

Demi Nicole Little Miss Imperfect By Demetria Ballard

Demi Nicole Little Miss Imperfect By Demetria Ballard
Wow, such a beautiful book with a strong message “You are beautiful just the way you are !!
This book is talking about self confidence , self love and most importantly about insecurities which we all have because we always compare ourselves with others.
The story is about Demi NIcole and her childhood friend which she calls her by the name of insecurity because she doesn’t love her hair, teeth and Insecurity has a sister named confidence. She has a vitiligo condition but she loves her skin .

Demi has many more friends in school and they all said that Insecurity always teases them about their size , accent and lot more so Demi tries to tell them that nobody is perfect and we should focus on our good qualities , not on our bad , it makes us more insecure and makes us weak.

Illustrations are so beautiful and colorful and I just loved the girls’ pyjama party in the end and they had a lot of fun together .
This book is full of positivity and learning for children and as well as for adults . I just love the way author named characters like Confidence and Insecurity which helps children to understand which is better to have.
