I am Jean L. Tanelus, born in Miami, Florida in 1998. I am of Haitian and Bahamian descent. I graduated in 2021 with my Bachelor in Business Administration at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), the #1 Public HBCU (Historically Black Colleges/Universities). I am a private person, I don’t share much about myself with others, even those close to me. It was getting hard to contain my vision and voice inside of me for any longer and writing has given me the space to express myself through stories for others to enjoy.

Upon discovering that her handwritten novel (a gift from her father) may be an unpublished, autobiographical manuscript by Miguel Cervantes, an American schoolgirl and her Spanish teacher submit it to experts for analysis. Throughout the course of evaluating the novel, a fantasy life filled with dragons, natural phenomena, and unbelievable tales of accomplishment unfolds through the eyes of the author, and re-writes 16th century history.

After a record snowfall, four Minnesota boys are enjoying a rare day off school by digging a system of snow tunnels to each others houses, a local tradition. As they navigate their way through the massive mounds, they get more of an adventure than they bargained for when they enter a portal uncovered beneath the snow by Robbie, the youngest of the group.
When their adventure lands them in the midst of one of Blackbeard’s evil schemes, twelve-year-old Davey, the self-appointed leader of the group, struggles to find the solution to getting back home but it’s not until the group, including Monica, Davey and Robbie’s 16 year old sister, decides to set aside their differences and cooperate, that they can uncover the solution to get home in time for Christmas.
The story is driven by Robbie’s imagination, resulting in a unique series of character parallels and manifestations including a peculiar depiction of pirates.
